Music Synthesis

Music Synthesis

Modern music has been drastically changed by the use of synthesizers. Synthesizers are electronic musical instruments intended to produce artificially generated sound. Common music synthesis techniques include additive, subtractive, FM, phase distortion, and physical modeling synthesis.

At a music school, we are well aware of the importance of synthesizers in contemporary music. Students at music school have the opportunity to learn and work with different music synthesis methods and various types of equipment.

In Basic Synthesis, our students receive an introductory view of analog synthesizers as well as instruction in essential concepts of subtractive synthesis, synthesized sound production, waveforms, filters, amplifiers and more. Students taking Reason 101 gain valuable knowledge of software-based synthesis using the powerful Reason program. music schoolDI, sampling, sequencing, drum programming, and looping are also covered. In Advanced Synthesis, concepts of advanced synthesis are studied and techniques such as additive, granular, and FM synthesis are explored.

Synthesis concepts and techniques are incorporated into several other courses at music school as well, providing students with a priceless combination of artistic and technological skill. Furthermore, our students have ample opportunity to work with synthesis equipment on a hands-on basis, allowing students to not only gain technical knowledge of music synthesis equipment, but a tangible feel for it as well.

Come learn and grow with us at a music school. We pledge to help you every step of the way as you work to gain skill and experience in everything from performing to music synthesis. music school is your complete music university, offering degree, credit, and non-credit programs.
